What Are Resilience and Thriving – And Why Are They Important?
Mental resilience is a person’s ability to cope with difficulties, stress, and crises—and return to normal functioning, sometimes even emerging stronger from the experience.
Resilience is not the suppression of emotions, but rather healthy emotional regulation that enables flexibility, adaptation, and recovery.
The Hebrew word for resilience, chosén, is rooted in the idea of immunization. Just as we can immunize the body against diseases, we can also immunize the mind against the psychological impact of life’s hardships.
By strengthening our resilience, we reduce the risk of anxiety, depression, burnout, and emotional overwhelm.
Resilience can be strengthened through skills that empower the individual.

What Is Wellbeing?
Wellbeing is a concept that combines satisfaction with life and happiness.
- Satisfaction with life is based on our achievements (promotion, salary, status, rank), and stems from how we evaluate ourselves relative to our expectations and compared to others.
- Happiness relates to our internal world—our emotions and sense of meaning. It is a subjective feeling that only we can truly report.
When we have high levels of both satisfaction and happiness—in other words, wellbeing—we are said to be thriving.
What Is Thriving?
Thriving goes far beyond just “coping.”
It is a state in which a person flourishes, grows, and lives with meaning and fulfillment.
It involves self-actualization, positive emotions, social resilience, a sense of agency, and internal control.
Why Is It Important?
- In an era where stress, overload, and crises are an inseparable part of life, mental resilience is essential for long-term mental health.
- People with strong resilience cope better with adversity, maintain their mental wellbeing over time, and prevent deterioration into distress.
- Thriving adds the dimension of happiness, personal growth, positive relationships, and the ability to fulfill one’s potential—not just to survive, but to live well.
Wellbeing – How can you achieve high levels of resilience and wellbeing?
We believe everyone is capable of reaching a high level of WELLBEING – but not everyone knows how to get there.
Testimonials
Thank you for being here with me and for me
I’ve learned a new way of life
An interesting journey, thank you for the opportunity to go through it. It took me a little longer than it should have, but that was due to my work. Thank you very much.
I enjoyed doing the tasks. I learned a lot.
Too bad you weren’t here earlier. I could have saved myself a lot of problems.
Even a small change is a positive change. When negative thoughts come up, I recall the journey, and even if it feels a bit artificial, I convince myself to shift my approach. It was nice to take part in the journey. It’s presented in a pleasant and relaxed way, without pressure and without feeling like a burden of “homework.” Thanks to everyone involved in creating this journey.
Where have you been until now? Three years in therapy didn’t give me what I achieved in this journey with you.
